WHEN CAN WE SCHEDULE A TASTING?

 

Tastings are usually held on Saturdays, but we know that life gets busy, especially while planning a wedding. So, for couples that can't make it in on the weekends, we have a few weekday tasting spots available each week. Please keep in mind that we are closed Sunday and Monday and do not hold tastings in the bakery on those days. Tastings generally last 45-60 minutes and we can only accommodate 4 guests at each tasting.

 

HOW DO WE SCHEDULE A TASTING APPOINTMENT OR PICK UP A TASTING BOX?

Give us a call or email us and we can schedule a time that works for us all. If you need to pick up a tasting box, let us know which day works best for you and we will make sure to have it ready for you upon pick up. Scheduling a tasting or reserving a tasting box both require full payment to reserve your time slot or tasting box.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR TASTINGS?

 

Yes, we do. Our tastings are $35. You get to try 6 flavors of your choice from our menu. The cost of your tasting does not go toward the cost of your cake.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT TO A TASTING APPOINTMENT?

If you cannot make it to a tasting appointment, that's okay. We can put together a tasting box for you to pick up. The cost of the tasting box is also $35. We can always discuss all other details via email or over the phone. If you paid for a tasting box or your appointment time but couldn't make it, the tasting box is yours to pick up. The $35 placed for your consultation is NON-REFUNDABLE IF WE AREN'T NOTIFIED 1 WEEK PRIOR TO YOUR APPOINTMENT DATE.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I SHOW UP? 

 

Well, we encourage you to come hungry. Aside from that, feel free to bring in any inspiration you have (magazine clippings, Pinterest pages, sketches, fabric swatches, etc.), but don't worry if you don't know what you want yet, we can figure it out together. At this point, we will be discussing your guest count, budget, design, delivery, cake stand rentals, and anything else you feel should be discussed.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT AFTER MY CAKE TASTING / CONSULTATION?

Once we've discussed all the details, we will put together a tasting summary for you within the next week. This will include all the details we discuss at your cake tasting, down to the chosen flavors. We will email it to you along with a copy of our contract.

DO I NEED TO LEAVE A DEPOSIT?

 

All wedding cakes and custom cakes require a 50% deposit up front to hold your date. This deposit can be made over the phone with a credit card, or in-person at the bakery with cash or check. The balance will be due one week before the big day. You do not need to leave a deposit right away, but your event date will not be secured until a 50% deposit is placed. *Once the deposit is placed it is not refundable under any circumstances.

DO YOU DELIVER?

 

Yes, we do. The last thing you need to do on your event day is come pick up a ginormous cake! We deliver throughout the Bay Area, all the way from Santa Cruz to Napa. Please inquire about the delivery charge to your venue.

WHAT IF I DON'T CARE FOR CAKE?

 

We specialize in all types of baked goods and small treats and will do all that we can to make your dream dessert a reality. We offer a variety of delicious treats, from hand pies, to cake pops, to drop cookies, and so on. Take a look at our small desserts menu to see what we have to offer.

HOW DO I RENT A CAKE STAND?

 

We have a wide variety of cake stands to choose from. During your tasting / consultation, we will discuss cake stands and which one suits your cake design. It will be included in your tasting summary. All cake stands are rented for $25 eachPlease inquire about bulk stand pricing if three or more stands are needed. All cake stands are due back to Rachel's Cakes one week after the event date to avoid a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 charge PER STAND.
